Fruit of the Vine: Free Groceries

Did you know that over a million children go to bed hungry in the United States? In 2008, over 50 million people were unable to put food on the table at some point. And yet we still are one of the “richest” and “most blessed” countries in the world!
Let’s face it, not everyone is doing well in our economy. Many people go hungry every day. And many others are caught trying to balance their bills and providing for their families.
We want to help!
Every Sunday we are providing free groceries for families in the community. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst” (John 6:35). Jesus clearly wants to give people spiritual food and drink. But Jesus also said the following:
“Then the King will say to p those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And b the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” – Matt. 25:34-40
We love that Jesus connected following Him and loving Him with how we treat others. So we believe that one way that we can love Jesus is by loving people! We certainly aren’t trying to “earn” Jesus’ love by loving other people but because we love Jesus we want to love other people! And providing free groceries for people is one easy way for us to love people!
Don’t be shy. We have lots of people with needs who make up our community and we want to do our best to meet those needs and the needs of others!
So join us on Sunday mornings @ 10am and receive spiritual food and some free groceries!
