Our Values...
Our values guide our "genetic code." They help
define our philosophy of life. In other words, the way we "do
ministry" always keeps our values in mind. Each of them
reflect truths we value...
A Growing Love for God
We believe every Christ-follower should crave to
know God deeper, exercising extravagant love and a
growing attraction to His character. The “one thing”
that we desire is to be intimate with God, through
His Son Jesus. We embrace the truth that salvation
is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ
alone. We also believe that man's greatest delight
comes from knowing his maker and that God is most
glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him.
God's Word
We believe that the sixty-six books of the Bible are
the inspired, and therefore inerrant, Word of God.
The Bible is the final authority for all we believe
and how we are to live.
The Centrality of Christ
We believe that Jesus is the center and source of
all happiness and purpose. He is the Water that
never runs dry. True purpose and happiness is found
only in a personal, vital, dynamic, growing
relationship with Jesus Christ. The central purpose
of our lives, the main purpose of our community, is
to point every man and woman to Christ. The life,
death, and resurrection of Jesus are the central
themes to who we are.
The Kingdom of God
We believe that the Kingdom of God is a present
reality. It should impact every sphere of our lives
– socially, politically, economically, etc. This
Kingdom is God’s kingship, His rule, and His
authority in and over our lives. Within the Kingdom
of God we have the “presence of the future.” God’s
desire is that His Kingdom would be in its fullness
here on earth and that one day heaven and earth will
be united. We acknowledge that the “constitution of
the Kingdom” is found within the Sermon on the Mount
(Matt. 5-7).
Prayer & Fasting
We believe that prayer is the escort to intimacy and
urgency. We desire to live lives that reflect this,
modeled through daily prayer and regular fasting.
While the lifestyle of prayer is costly at every
level, the results affect our personal lives, our
communities, the nations, and ultimately eternity.
We desire to make prayer the visible engine for all
our efforts in ministry and worship by developing an
ever-growing frequency, freedom, depth, and power in
corporate, family, and private prayer. We also
believe that fasting should be a normal Christian
discipline.
The Leading of the Holy Spirit
We believe that God desires us to be a people who
are led by the Spirit. Like Jesus, we only seek to
do what we see the Father doing. We acknowledge His
right to break our rules and offend our
sensibilities. We welcome the moving of the Holy
Spirit within our worship gatherings through the
gifts He has provided to the church.
Spirit Led Worship
We believe in going hard after God as an
all-satisfying end. We emphasize the importance of
both head and heart in our worship gatherings,
seeking to experience him in our emotions and in the
way we think. We welcome biblical worship, such as
clapping, lifting hands and singing spontaneous
songs to the Lord. The Father seeks worship to be
done in spirit and in truth.
Christ Personified
We believe church relationships should epitomize
Christ through humility, unity, love, and by
sacrificially serving others. Our lives should be
characterized by integrity and commitment. We place
a high priority on endurance and consistency and we
seek to be like Jesus in the way we do what we do.
Relationships
We are a community of friends with a shared mission,
vision, and values who are driven by friendship
rather than function. Relationships are foundational
to accomplishing that which God has called us to do,
and rather than being formed out of obligation, our
relationships are formed out of love. We are deeply
committed to discipleship, the act of coming along
side each other in order to help people follow Jesus
in every area of their lives.
Participation
We believe it should be normal, not the exception,
for members to be the owners of our community’s
mission, vision, purposes, genetic code, and
ministries. We work with anyone provided they share
our mission, vision, and values, regardless of race,
age, gender or church background. We build unity and
enjoy diversity.
Creativity, Innovation, & Excellence
We believe the church should embrace God-inspired
creativity as integral to authentic expressions of
God’s heart. We also believe that excellence honors
God and inspires people when carried out with humble
conviction.
Cultural Relevance
We believe that God is passionate about lost people,
and that members of His church family should be as
well. We believe the church must, like Jesus, be
culturally relevant, while never wavering from
Biblical truth. We respect, value, and honor
cultural diversity.
Righteousness & Justice
We believe that pursuing justice and freedom from
oppression for humanity and the created world are
important aspects of living in the Kingdom of God.
We commit ourselves to radical obedience to Jesus in
personal holiness and purity in both public and in
secret.
Stewardship
We believe it is important to take responsibility
for ourselves, those around us, and the things that
God has entrusted to us. We believe that our tithes
and offerings are part of demonstrating our love for
God, though not the only way.
Celebration
We believe in rejoicing in all that we say and do.
Jesus came to bring life to the fullest and we have
a Christian duty to celebrate all that is good. Joy
and laughter are central to us, and we do not need
to justify these.
Simplicity
We believe it is important to remain a community of
like-minded people, not some new slick organization.
While we believe in being creative and doing all we
can to reach people, we also believe that “having
church” essentially consists of teaching,
fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer. In character
we are unpolished; yet we are passionate about
developing people rather than our own profile.
Families
We believe in seeing families restored to what God
first intended them to be. We do our best to help
families to become strong and well grounded. We
believe God was the first to orchestrate marriage,
so we agree that what “God has joined together, let
not man separate.” We celebrate families and focus
much of our ministry towards their strength and
well-being.
Leadership
We believe that God Himself has placed people in
positions to lead others and are thus to be honored
and respected for this responsibility. There is a
stricter judgment and more accountability for those
that are in positions of influence and authority.
This attitude of respect and obedience is to extend
beyond the church to the civil authorities that have
been established in the earth as an extension of the
hand of God. We also value the principles of
leadership that can be applied to every area of life
as we are given opportunities to influence others.
Dreaming
We believe in dreaming big, in fact, we encourage
it! Rather than seeing with our natural eyes, we
want to see the way God sees. Man sees dry bones, we
see an army! Our dreams are what make the future
brighter and our hopes more glorious!
