Luke Geraty -
Overseer, Adult Ministries, Creative Arts
Luke Geraty is our resident Teaching Pastor, Creative Arts Team
Leader, and he also wears several other hats. He considers himself
a "church junkie" and will serve wherever needed (or so he
says!). If you have questions, he might have answers.
He was born in Anchorage, AK and has lived in California,
Colorado, Hawaii, Minnesota, Arkansas, and here in Wisconsin.
His favorite "home" was in Alaska though... simply due to his
obsession with fly fishing for big fat rainbow trout.
Pastor Luke is married to his college sweetheart -
Dawn.
Together they have three beautiful daughters (Allana, Mikenna,
and Sadie).
Academically, Luke holds a
Bachelor of Theology (Th.B.) and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.). He plans on beginning
post-graduate studies in the fall of 2008 with the hopes of being "Dr. Luke," though
he technically tells his wife that he already holds a doctorate
and is to be considered the "Doctor of love." She just
laughs at him.
In December of 2004, Luke visited TCF to help with some ministry
stuff
and has been hanging out ever since. When our previous
pastor felt the Lord moving him on to another season of ministry, Luke stepped in.
Luke has traveled in every state of the U.S. (mostly for
ministry purposes) and has also done ministry in Europe.
You may have heard a silly rumor that he was a Christian rapper,
but this cannot be proven (or
can it?). While in Europe, Luke fell deeply
in love with Espresso, and has been sipping coffee drinks ever
since.
Hobbies:
Praying, reading, and fly fishing. I also like
my kids. Wait, I love my kids. My hobbies
are carried out in my life... I am happy doing whatever the Lord
desires.
Favorite Superhero:
Batman baby! I also dig Wolverine. Now
that I have kids, I watch a lot of
Doodlebops
though.
Favorite Bible verse:
My list of favorite bible verses is so large that
this question is impossible to answer.
However, I like when Jesus says, "Behold, I am
coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to
repay everyone for what he has done" (Rev. 22:12).
Favorite Book(s):
Ha ha. Another impossible question. Here
goes:
Desiring God,
The Cross of Christ,
The Gospel of the Kingdom,
Israel, the Church, and the
Last Days,
The Gift of Prophecy in the
New Testament & Today,
The Radical Reformission:
Reaching Out without Selling Out,
Jewish Roots...
okay, this is getting out of hand. I like the
Bible. I have been working hard to keep my
library online, but it is still lacking the majority of my books
(click
here
to view).
Favorite Song:
Every song on Misty Edwards'
Always on His Mind
CD. If you don't have it, get it.
Favorite Food:
Chinese and Japanese. I love sushi. I
also like steak. Oh, and... well, just about
everything.
Favorite Movie:
A River Runs Through It... because it has Brad Pitt
(just kidding).
Personal Quirks (annoying habits):
My wife says I snore... but I haven't ever heard it.
Greatest Accomplishment:
To find a wife as awesome as mine is; to have three
beautiful girls; to "stay the course" of my
academics. Those three are all intricately
connected because my wife and children have been a
great help in my pursuit of finishing grad school.
Most
Embarrassing Moment:
When I was in fourth grade I sneezed a booger onto
the table of a girl I had a crush on. Needless
to say, she never talked to me again. I guess
it just wasn't meant to be.
Goals
& Aspirations:
To behold the beauty of the Lord (Ps. 27:4).
Anything else?:
I accept hundred dollars bills in unmarked
packages...
